Samantha Schilf, who paints under the name “Sami See”, grew up drawing and painting in the San Francisco, Bay Area, and began creating murals and aerosol art in 2011. Whether she is designing and painting walls solo or working with small groups or communities to create collaborative murals, she holds an inner knowing that her art making generates positive self-expression, creative healing, and balances the mind, body and collective spirit. Her unique style of painting draws influence from mural and graffiti culture, mind-body medicine and mysticism. As a second generation, bi-racial, Filipinx-American, her work explores elements of her cultural roots and unique experience of reconnecting and re-membering intergenerational wisdom.
Her murals can be found throughout the SF Bay area spanning from hospitals to playgrounds and business store fronts to back alleyways. Her work creates accessible visual stories in public spaces, nudging viewers to experience their environments with fresh eyes. Her design, curatorial, and mural work has been featured in the Clarion Alley Mural Project, Veteran’s Alley in San Francisco, SOMArts Gallery, 1AM Gallery, Oakland Terminal and more.
